What’s happening here? This is a video of neurons building new connections in real time.
If you ever feel like your ‘brain is breaking’ or your ‘brain hurts’, this is what’s happening. You’re literally exploring the edges of your brains’ connections (and forming new ones).
This is also what is what is happening when we feel discomfort about interrupting an old pattern, and venturing into a new, not-yet-comfy habituated pattern that is a ‘vote’ for how we want to live.
I like to imagine this video, and remind myself how hard my brain is working to build new pathways (and therefore new behavior).
Therefore, that brain breaking feeling is ultimately exciting, because it’s a sign of growth! And we can know that every time we practice the new, desired habituated response, neurons are getting closer to ‘firing together’ (and the saying goes – neurons that fire together wire together).
New neural wirings = feeling + experiencing life on our terms.
